99th Garrison is a costuming group but you don’t need to have a costume to join us. 99th Garrison is always in need of members with various skills to help with the website, graphics, sourcing events, etc and the most important is CREW/ SPOTTER! We need members not in costume to help keep an eye on us at events. Stormtroopers do tend to bump into things and they are prone to wandering off so they need guidance! Crew members must wear a 99th Garrison T-shirt with CREW on it to identify them. Other types of crew can be costumed; such as Imperial Deck Officers or Ground crew, mainly costumes with no helmet to restrict visibility. You can progress at your own pace regarding costumes; there is no pressure. However once you have the bug it is hard to shake it. There is a wealth of advice and experience in our members and you are welcome to ask any questions. Please keep them to Star Wars and not quantum mechanics! We pride ourselves on the quality of our costumes. They are not fancy dress and such outfits will not be allowed in 99th Garrison. Each member owns their own costume usually investing many hundreds of pounds on armour for Stormtroopers etc but other costumes can cost less. Your costume will need to be approved before you can ‘troop’ in it with us. We do not mind if, as a member, you wish to bring children to an event. They can even have their own costume as long as it is safe for them to wear it. We just ask that you are able to supervise them at all times. Some events, however, will not be suitable for children to attend. 99th Garrison members pledge their free time to attend various events around the country, so don’t think that this is a way to make money – it is not! You need to be committed to Star Wars to do this (and being slightly barmy helps). Most of our events are on weekends and are usually held between 10.00 and 4.00pm although in most cases attendance at least an hour before is required to allow time to get into costume! If you would like to see us at an event you are more than welcome to come along and see us in the flesh/ armour. Go to our future events page to see if we are appearing anywhere near you in the future. If after reading this lengthy tome you feel that you would like to get involved with us and what we do then please contact our recruitment officer 99th Garrison consists of members from all over the country but primarily we are based in and around the North East, North West, including Merseyside and Lancashire, and the Midlands. We come together to indulge in our passion for science fiction, to enjoy ourselves, to make people smile and to help charities. Disclaimer: Star Wars & all its characters are © and TM by LFL.
